Flower descriptions

Mrs Taylor brought in a Gerbera. It was beautiful. Here are our pictures and our descriptions of the flower.

Weaving

We have been learning about Matariki in Pod 6. We learned that one of the ways that Matariki is celebrated is by learning new skills like weaving. We learned how to weave paper and made these beautiful paper kete.

Visual Pepeha

We have been learning about our pepeha with Whaea Claudine in our Tuesday morning Te Reo lessons. We decided to try and turn the words of our pepeha into a piece of art. Here are our beautiful works of art.

Sally at the beach By Ella

Once there was a girl named Sally. Sally loved going to the beach as much as her Mum did. One day Sally sat under a Kowhai tree with her Mum and Dad."Can we go kayaking today?" asked Sally "that's a great idea" said Dad. "Ok" said Mum. So they pushed the kayak off the beach. The water was crystal clear "there's a fish!" exclaimed Sally. "There's a stingray" said Mum. "Can I go for a swim?" asked Sally. "What about the stingray?" asked Mum "Aaaahhhhhh" shouted Sally.
"Lets go home now" said Dad "I'm getting scared" "Ok" said Mum. When Sally got home she shouted "THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!" and for the rest of the week Sally teased her Dad "ha you're scared" said Sally.

Finding Jesse By Chase

Once upon a time Bob was walking in the forest. He found a robot he asked the robot "can you direct me to Jesse's home?" The robot told him where Jesses home was but all he ended up finding was a dragon cave. Luckily the dragon wasn't home. He went back to find the robot again and shouted "you were wrong!" " HA HA HA I tricked you" laughed the robot now I am off to cut firewood. So Bob went on he found a snowman Bob said "can you direct me to Jesses' home?" The snowman replied "ah yes, down the road to the left" "Thank you mister snowman" said Bob and he went down the road to the left. He finally founds Jesses home. KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, he waited for Jesse to open the door.

Holograms

Today Mrs Taylor came into class really excited to show us a new thing that she learned. She had her phone with a 3D video and a plastic pyramid with the top cut off. It was very odd. We talked about it and what might happen with these two things. Then we predicted what might happen, then once we had written our prediction we got to see exactly what happened. Here is some of our writing.

Matthew:

Before: I think if you put the plastic onto the phone the hologram will change colour on the phone screen.

After: I saw a hologram. It was the pictures reflecting onto the cone.

Piper:

Before: Mrs Taylor has a plastic pyramid thing with a hole in the top. If it gets mixed with a video of the 4 pictures doing the same thing. I think it might make more of the pictures on the phone.

After: The pictures on the phone were reflected onto the pyramid and made a hologram in the middle of the pyramid.

Xavier:

Before: I think when Mrs Taylor puts the funny plastic thing on the screen the four pictures will turn into one picture.

After: The picture reflected onto the plastic from the phone screen. We could see it through the sides of the plastic and it made one picture that moved in the middle of the plastic cone.

Xavier ordering numbers to 1000

Me and my maths group have been working on ordering numbers to 1000. We needed to practice so that we could get really good at it. Yesterday Mrs Taylor gave us a cool sheet that we had to cut up and put in order. Before we got our worksheet, Mrs Taylor told us that Stu made it for us because he thought it was a good ideas and would help us. Except the sheet had lots of little number plates like on cars. We cut out the number plates out and put them in order on the ground before we glued them. But I noticed something tricky, the number plates had 3 letters and 3 numbers and I had to remember to not look at the letters and just look at the numbers so I wouldn't get confused. Thank you Stu for your cool idea, it helped me to learn how to order numbers to 1000.

Strike Performance

When Pod 6 went into the hall and sat down, the other classes came into the hall there was loud music. It was one of my favourite songs I felt my head going up and down. The rest of the school came in as the song was playing. When the song ended three people all dressed in black were on the stage. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, they started drumming my heart was racing to the beat. It was so loud but I didn't mind. They played lots of music on their drums, there were lots of different drums and the songs had no words but they were still awesome. After the performance they came to have a photo with us. Shu's Song Show By Callum

It was a school morning, and we wore going to a show. When we were there it was a funny show and all of it was great. We saw lots of stuff crying being happy, playing parties, people coming back. There was lots of stuff that was so funny. The show was at Forum North. In the show there was a secret door into a control room and lots of stuff that was magic. The people were a robot and two people in flowery clothes and that was all the people in the play. At the end we started to leave but the buses weren't there so we had a walk. Our bus arrived so we walked back to the bus and went back to school.
